Conflict Resolution

conflict Conflict Resolution

Misunderstandings occur because people have different experiences that have shaped their lives in different ways. One person’s positive reaction is another person’s negative reaction. They have different ‘tapes’ playing in their heads. Misunderstandings grow into hurt feelings and anger. The vicious cycle goes round and round and gets more and more firmly entrenched in each person’s mindset. Anger blows up to effect everyone in the work environment and lower the productivity of the whole group.

What about the one person who seems to alienate lots of other staff? Sure it’s easy to fire that person if she doesn’t have a lot of company knowledge and you aren’t dependent on her. Perhaps you’d rather see her change some of her communication tactics and keep her knowledge inside the organization.

In these cases we establish dialog, sometimes use behavior and communication assessments, and achieve understanding through facilitated discussions to modify perceptions, establish shared goals and commitment to goal achievement.
